
Tamil Nadu Widow Pension
Tamil Nadu state government provides pensions to the widows of the state under Destitute Widow Pension. This helps the Widows of the state in the Upliftment of their Socioeconomic status of the widows. As many of them face discrimination in society. This also helps in Women’s empowerment and upliftment of their status in society. The government of Tamil Nadu provides Rs.1,000 per month to the widows of the state. The full detail about the scheme is given below in the article.
Note – There are two types of Widow Pension in the State of Tamil Nadu-
- Destitute Widow Pension TN
- Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension(For both of these pensions Eligibility Criteria are different)
Eligibility of Vidhwa Pension Tamil Nadu
- A person must be a resident of the State of Tamil Nadu.
- She must be a Widow, Should be Destitute.
- The Applicant should belong to BPL (Below Poverty Line). In Rural areas get BDO No from the BDO office or panchayat office president
- The Assets of the Widow must be less than Rs. 5,000.
- Age of the applicant should be above 18 years and below 40 years. ( if age is above 60 the widow should apply for an Old Age pension)
- If Applying for the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension age must be between 40 – and 60 years.
Required Documents
These are the required documents for the applicant for Destitute Widow Pension.
- Passport size Photo of applicant
- Smart card or ration card
- Aadhaar Card
- Voter ID
- Bank Account Passbook
- Husband’s death certificate
- Widow Certificate of applicant
Required Documents are same for both Destitute Widow Pension and National Widow Pension are same as given above
Apply for Tamil Nadu Destitute Widow Pension
To apply for a vidhwa pension in Tamil Nadu follow these steps:
- First you need to visit your area’s the Tahsildar / Special Tahsildar Revenue Department.
- To Download the List of the Designated Public Information Officers, Chennai District Click Here.
- Now get the application from the concerned officer OR write it on an A4 size page.
- Attach all the documents required for applying for the pension.
- Now take the filled form and attached documents to submit to the concerned officer in the Revenue Department.
- From there you will get an acknowledgment to keep it safe for further use.
Here the verification process will start. Here the officials will verify the details filled in the application form and they will also verify all the documents you have submitted.
If Pension is sanctioned the beneficiary will get a passbook.
Apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension in TN
The applicant above the age of 40 years, Can apply for Indira Gandhi Widow Pension in Tamil Nadu.

- Now get the application from the concerned officer OR write it on an A4 size page.
- Attach all the documents required for applying for the pension.
- Now take the filled form and attached documents to submit to the concerned officer in the Revenue Department.
- From there you will get an acknowledgment to keep it safe for further use.

Tamil Nadu Destitute Widow Pension StatusTo get your application status for Destitute Widow Pension follows these steps:
- First, visit the official website of Tamil Nadu e district.
- Here you will get two options with which you can Check pension status.
- Application ID
- Registration No
With Application ID
- With application Id You will need to enter your Application ID and Captcha. And then click on the Get Status Button.
- You will get your pension status.
With Registration No
- You will need to need to enter your Registration Number.
- Select service as Destitute Widow Pension.
- And Finally fill the Captcha.
- Now click on the Get Status Button.
You will be able to see your Pension Status.
