SHRESHTA Scheme 2023
Recently the ministry of Social justice and empowerment has initiated a new scheme- Shreshtha scheme. Through this they will provide residential education to SC students in High School in some fixed areas. Under this scheme, the beneficiaries will get quality education. This will include all educational expenses of eligible students from standard 9th to 11th. All those students who belongs to scheduled caste can avail the benefits of this scheme. The Indian government will soon roll out this scheme for the academic year 2023-23. In order to avail benefits of this scheme, students need to give an entrance exam. It is basically called as NETS or the National entrance test for SHRESHTA scheme. This is a national-level test that the NTA or national testing agency conducts through a computer-based mode.
Total 177 Private Schools Selected Under Shreshta Scheme-
As we all know that the Union Minister Mr. Virendra Kumar for social justice and empowerment has announced this SHRESHTA Scheme. As through this scheme, he will ensure great educational opportunities to all poorest students who belongs to SC group. The Central government has recognised 177 private schools. Nearly 1300 seats in clasd 9 and 1700 seats in class 11 are reserved for some students in these schools under this scheme. Students belonging to scheduled caste from all across the states and union territories will be chosen through a transparent mechanism of the National entrance test for SHRESHTA scheme. The NTA will conduct this entrance exam.

Aim Of SHRESHTA Scheme
The major aim of this SHRESHTA Scheme is to make sure that all students who belongs to the scheduled caste communities will obtain quality education without worrying about any financial problem. In this regard, the government will fund their school as well as hostel fee through this yojana. With the inauguration of this scheme, the literacy rate of India will also get improved. Along with this, students will become self dependent as the government of India will bear their higher educational expenses. The implementation of this great initiative will also improve the basic standard of living of students.
Important Features and Benefits of SHRESHTA Scheme

- All those applicants who will qualify NETs exam will be selected for admission at CBSE affiliated schools.
- With this scheme the government will directly transfer the scholarship to those schools who are providing admission to the selected students.
- This scholarship will pay school as well as hostel fee for eligible students.
- This initiative is only applicable for the residential schools that are affiliated with CBSE upto standard 12th, or are in operation for 5 years or above with 75% pass percentage or more in standard 10th and 12th in the last 3 years.
- The interested residential schools need to submit their online consent till 25th of March 2023.
Eligibility Criteria For Students-
- Only all those students belonging to schedule caste can apply for this scheme
- The student should be learning in class 8th and 10th in the present academic year.
- Yearly income of the parents must be Rs 2.5 lakh or less
- Those Applicants who are applying for 9th class must be born between 1st of April 2006 to 31st of March 2010.
- Those students who are taking admission in class 11th must be born between 1st April 2004 to 31st March 2008
- There is no any entrance fees for the Shreshtha scholarship test.
- Students must be permanent president of India.
