Identification of beneficiaries and Thodu Scheme distribution

In Phase I, 9.05 lakh beneficiaries were recorded in Jagananna Thodo Yojana. And banks pay out only Rs 535 million. In spite of the interest offered by the government, Rs 535 crore was given to 5.35 lakh beneficiaries who belong to the unorganized sector. And banks do not give loans to them. As a result, they have to borrow from private banks/companies at a high-interest rate to run their business thus, they often go into debt.

In response to this issue, the government of Andhra Pradesh has declared to extend financial support to the remaining 3.7 lakh beneficiaries. By sanctioning loans in rural and urban areas, the Sthreenidhi Credit Cooperative Federation and APCOB extend financial assistance to the eligible beneficiaries. According to the AP CM, Rs. 49.77 crores will be forwarded by the state government under the program to pay interest. As long as beneficiaries repay the loans on time, the government will reimburse the interest directly to their accounts. They would also become eligible for subsequent loans.
